Your first visit
We aim to make your first visit with us as easy and straightforward as we can. No direct referral is required; however, we would like to know details of both your medical and dental practitioners so we will ask you to complete a medical history questionnaire.
Andrew or Julia will then carry out your consultation in an enclosed surgery to make you feel as comfortable as possible and ensure your privacy. You will be encouraged to fully describe your worries so that we are aware of everything that bothers you. An examination, including your facial features will be performed and this, in conjunction with any radiographs, will form the basis of your diagnosis and consequent recommendations for treatment options.
At Evolution Orthodontics we are committed to digital records. Impressions of your teeth are taken as part of the initial records and these are then scanned and stored as a digital file. In some people further investigations may be required to reach an accurate diagnosis. This is when we'll use 3D dental CT scans. Routine radiographs only give information in two dimensions, so by undergoing a cone beam scan, important clinical decisions can be made. In this way risks and benefits associated with various treatment options can be discussed and the most appropriate treatment option chosen. Results can be seen in 3D.
In a small number of complex cases, we may require further investigations before a final plan can be confirmed, but we will explain the need for these should you be in this group.
Your treatment plan
At the end of your consultation, your treatment plan will be presented as a summary document and this will include costs and payment schedule. This document is yours to take away.
If you wish to start treatment as soon as possible we can usually accommodate you by taking all our necessary pre-treatment records on the same day as your consultation. This can save time by avoiding an extra visit.
We always try to accommodate different payment schedules in order to make your treatment affordable. This can be discussed with our treatment co-ordinator at the time of your visit. We encourage payments by direct debit; however, eftpos and credit cards are accepted.
Many health funds offer orthodontic rebates, although this can vary. We will provide you with the item numbers required for you to claim.
Some tax relief can be claimed for dental and medical expenses of a certain value. You are advised to check with your accountant if you are eligible for such a rebate.
